About the Mushers

My husband Curt and his family have been running dogs on the North Shore for almost twenty years. They have competed in and won many races all over the United States. They have traveled thousands of miles with there dogs and continue to enjoy what people have relied on for hundreds of years.

My experience with sled dogs started two years ago when I met Curt. At first I thought it crazy to have twelve dogs and rely on them for travel. That winter we took every chance we had to explore the Boundary Waters with the dogs. We found so many beautiful places, lots of fish, and even a moose horn. I have so much respect for these dogs and their ability to get us around on Curt’s command. I am grateful to have them as a part of our family and look forward to sharing this experience with others.

Our experience ice fishing in the boundary waters started slow as we searched for all types of fish. The walleyes we are still searching for but the lake trout we have found with great success. With the right gear we have come to like winter fishing with no bugs and the freedom to walk around. It is certainly a unique experience that, if everything goes right, will produce some nice fish.
